Throwback Thursday: Listen to Umberto’s first LP ahead of his show at the Brick on Friday

Matt Hill has been performing giallo-inspired electronic music under the name of Umberto for over half a decade now. Hill left Kansas City for points west back in 2013, and we can’t think of the last time he performed his Carpenter-like jams in our neck of the woods. This make’s Umberto return to Kansas City at the Brick tomorrow, on Friday, March 27, a pretty special occasion.
After starting out playing small shows in KC and Lawrence, Hill’s now making records for the likes of Death Waltz Recording Co., where he’s doing things such as re-scoring The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Giallo Disco co-founder Antoni Maiovvi. Given that Hill’s come so far as Umberto, it only makes sense to go back to the beginning and take a listen to the first LP he released, From the Grave, which is now on its third pressing, courtesy of Chicago’s Permanent Records.
