Throwback Thursday: Listen to Punchline’s “Operator (Remix)”

Everything old is new again. For a while, it seemed like hardcore had started to mean something less than pummeling riffs and hoarsely shouted vocals; as the genre now starts to experience a nationwide roots resurgence, a band like Punchline starts to take on a certain sense of importance.

Thus, it’s with an anxious eye that we continue to monitor the band’s Facebook page, hoping beyond hope that the long-rumored reunion show will finally happen. In the interim, we’ll be content to listen to old tracks like “Operator (Remix),” from the band’s first EP.

The band’s former frontman Ryan Leach has kept the hardcore scene in Kansas City connected to its roots with his Beyond Four Walls ‘zine. He also currently fronts the crossover hardcore/death metal band, Altered Beast. They play the Riot Room tonight with Druids, Hyborian, and 34. Details on that show can be found here.
