Throwback MP3 of the Week: Pixel Panda

This might be the first-ever Throwback MP3 featuring a band still together. Pixel Panda is now known as The Pixel Panda, which might seem a minor point of grammar. However, “the” serves as an article of delineation, differentiating the band from the scream-y Blood Brothers knock-off they started as, to the chaotic avant-rockers they are now.

The band still screams like crazy, of course, but they’ve developed a sound more of their own at this point. These two tracks are from their split with Lawrence’s Hookandladder, which came out in 2002. The split was recorded by Lance Attack, who was the go-to guy in the area for bands of the avant-indie stripe back in the early ’00s. Both songs are nearly impossible to separate from one another, and work best as one cohesive movement. If you want them split up, they’re on the band’s debut full-length, The Nation of Symmetry (read the Pitch’s review).
