Three teens wounded, and Mayor Sly James ducks for cover in Plaza shooting Saturday night
The Plaza was a mess Saturday night. Three teenagers were shot near the Cheesecake Factory. Mayor Sly James’ bodyguards shoved him to the ground, and former Councilman Alvin Brooks ducked for cover. Police barricaded the street from J.C. Nichols Parkway to Broadway.
The shooting victims were two boys and a girl ages 13, 15 and 16, the Star reported. The boys were shot in the leg. A bulled grazed the cheek of the girl. Their injuries weren’t life-threatening.
Earlier in the night, the mayor didn’t sound interested in a curfew. After the shooting, he was having second thoughts and he described the scene as “something close to a riot.”
