Thomas Function

Few bands are named so that that you can tell in an unconscious minute that you’ll love what they do, that you’ll immediately feel a perfect kinship on their first chord. Thomas Function is no exception. But don’t fry your wires making it mean something. Instead jump right into the troubadour sound of these Alabama boys’ basement-truth anthems. On the group’s newest release, Belly of the Beast, Function sounds worldly wise over ringing guitars and lo-fi Bakersfield rhythms. At once familiar, due to obvious ’60s homages, and yet very current, this record comes like a new breath after we’ve been holding ours for years. Thomas Function strums the pain away enough to con a smile out of any and all bystanders. Be one of those bystanders.
