This week’s Pitch and 10 things we learned this week

It’s Best Of Kansas City week here at The Pitch. No question the biggest issue of the year — full of profiles (KU center Cole Aldrich, urban planner Kevin Klinkenberg, chef Celina Tio and more). On the Plog, we’ve added video extras and a closer look at one of the readers choices: Best Media Personality and KSHB Channel 41 meteorologist Gary Lezak. Oh, and there’s Matt Hawkins’ amazing paper toy Pitch box.

Also this week, Martin gives his take on pop quiz enthusiast Jan Marcason and Stretch and the whole minority/women hiring farce mandate.

Here on the Plog, we learned that:

1. KMBZ 980’s Darla Jaye is thinking about a run for Dennis Moore’s congressional seat.

2. The city released aerial shots of eight potential convention hotel sites.

3. The Bunker is selling anti-pride KC tees.

4. David Cross apologized for coming back to KC.

5. Phyllis Schlafly still doesn’t like the feminists or “the gays.”

6. AEG’s Tim Leiweke is ballsy.

7. Union Station’s Andy Warhol exhibit opens tonight.

8. The American Royal Parade looked amazing.

9. Funk’s fantasy football team is in a, uh, funk.

10. And we discovered the identity of the man voicing KCTV 5’s scary promos.
