This Weeek We Love…

For the most part, we’re impervious to those pick-up artists who attract women with their arrogance and superiority. But there is one guy in town whom we find to be a little smug, a little self-satisfied — and really cute. That man is Carlos Lee.

Smart, successful and supertall, Lee is the puppet master behind Kansas City’s Red Bull-chugging social set. He’s the president and CEO of Event KC and heads up the Kansas City Sport and Social Club; recently we saw his name listed as the regional contact for Play Coed, the city’s latest beer-in-hand rec league to crop up. He’s also heavy on cross-programming, co-sponsoring parties with the Twelve12 Club and Reveal Magazine in the past year. “I have fun all the time,” he says on his MySpace page for Event KC. If we’re to believe the pictures, he isn’t kidding.

We’re sure he doesn’t want to excuse himself midconversation on each occasion we meet. He probably has to ignore witty, charming blondes like us all the time. After all, he quit his high-paying gig as a corporate lawyer to kick the KC scene into gear, and if that’s what it takes, well, that’s just the sacrifice he intends to make. He’s busy. And important.
