This is the (alleged) ‘Hatchet Man’ robber

OK, here’s a mea culpa. The crazy ax-wielding guy apparently wasn’t

ripped with blue skin and a skeleton face (or wearing a loin cloth and

riding a giant panther).

Independence police say

this is the guy, Vincent W. Williams, and Jackson County prosecutors

have charged the 54-year-old with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.

According

to court records, Williams went in an Independence Subway (10910 E. 40

Highway) on July 20, grabbed a bottle of milk, paid with a $5 bill and

then he allegedly whipped out the hatchet and cleaned out the register.

Independence police arrested Williams on July 23. A friend of

Williams’ claimed that she saw him on the news in videos of the robberies. She also told police that Williams admitted robbing a motel

and a Hallmark store near an American Inn off Interstate 70.

Apologies to Skeletor.
