This is so meta, it hurts

Let me see if I can accurately sum this up so it makes sense, because this project is both intensely interesting, and obscenely complicated.

Import/Export has teamed up with filmmaker Jon Duran for a project called “Silent Film Redux” from Garage. As near as I can tell, it involves the filmmaker picking a silent short film — in this case, Duran chose Luis Buñuel‘s Un Chien Andalou.

Import/Export created a soundtrack to the film, which was recorded documentary style for as they rehearsed and fleshed it out. In conjunction with these documentary pieces, the band also created two visual pieces with Duran that are edits of the film. Now, tomorrow night, they’ll be playing along to the film while also being filmed. Twice.

I’ve read the explanation a dozen times, and that’s still as clear as I can make it. Suffice it to say, if you’d like to see either Import/Export or Un Chien Andalou tomorrow night, you will have the opportunity to do so at the Innerhorse Studios Loft.
