This dork will take you to geek Valhalla

Self-described “world’s first full time professional video gamer” and Kansas City native Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendell wants to take you to the Woodstock of gaming. All you have to

do is ask.

Wendell just announced a contest for one lucky winner to get an all-expense paid trip to QuakeCon 2009 — the four-day Quake contest starting August 13 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. All you have to do is e-mail the man at quakecon@fatal1ty.com with your name, address, gaming name and age, and the champ will personally pick one player to get free airfare, a hotel room and a daily allowance for food.

Oh Fatal1ty, you deign to mix with the common man! And such a long way to fall!

Pitch staff writer Justin Kendall wrote a great story about Fatal1ty (“Fear this Geek“) in 2006. Since then he’s moved to Vegas and started his own brand of gaming gear. As a fellow gamer in Kendall’s story says of the man: “As Fatal1ty would tell himself, it’s not enough to participate or compete. He has to win. That’s why he turned the i in his name into a 1.”
