Third Eye Open

Third Eye Productions, a Crossroads-based film- and video-production company, made an immediate effort to fit into the neighborhood when it opened its space at 2024 Main. “We moved into this location last March, and since we came into the Crossroads, it was obvious that we should have a gallery,” says venue manager Chrissy Raker. “We’re running shows March through November. We rotate exhibits each month — the artists are mostly found via word of mouth. I do a little bit of research to find new people — we aim for a certain degree of diversity. It’s not always painting. It’s not always sculpture. We exhibit a variety of styles. We try to have a different feel and a different show each month.” Tonight’s group exhibit, titled The Charlotte Street Reclaim, includes sculpture and paintings by artists Asheer Akram, Will Burnip, Jorge Calvo, James McAfee, Travis Pratt and Jesse Small. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and tonight’s opening is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Call 816-931-7160.
