The Zeus, You Say

In this economy, it’s important to maximize your entertainment dollar, as well as make good use of limited free time. Screenland Crown Center (2450 Grand, 816-545-8034) gives you a multitasking two-for-one with its popular Screenland Slams series. On the first weekend of every month, watch a camp classic while three of Kansas City’s freshest comics improvise a live riff track, for your very own Mystery Science Theater. This month’s film is the 1981 mythological fantasy Clash of the Titans, starring the once-in-a-lifetime dramatic duo Laurence Olivier and Harry Hamlin, with support from Dame Maggie Smith, Claire Bloom and Bond girl Ursula Andress (she and Hamlin began an affair during filming, resulting in their son, Dimitri). Oh, and Kraken, Cerberus, Pegasus and lots and lots of scorpions. The slamming starts at 9 p.m. today and Saturday. Admission: $10 in advance or $12 at the door. See screenlandslams.com.
