The Zero Boys

Indianapolis punk act the Zero Boys wasn’t particularly famous during its original heyday in the early ’80s, but its guitar-fueled buzz-saw punk has become a touchstone for many modern-day acts (KC street punks Tanka Ray, for example). The group’s debut album, Vicious Circle, is such a striking piece of in-your-face snottiness, it has been reissued no fewer than four times on labels as diverse as Toxic Shock, Panic Button, Lookout and (most recently) Secretly Canadian. The title track ought to be as well-known as the Dead Kennedys’ “Holiday in Cambodia” or Black Flag’s “Nervous Breakdown.” The Zero Boys started playing reunion shows five years ago, and now they’re playing RecordBar — on a Saturday night, no less. For 10 bucks, you won’t see a better punk show all year.
