Kansas City, Kansas, just got a little more relaxed. At least, that’s the vibe that the new Margaritaville Hotel wants to provide tourists and locals alike.

“Something that a lot of people do not know, particularly given a lot of the comments about ‘Wow, a Margaritaville in the wheat fields of Kansas,’–the truth is that the yellow brick road actually leads to Margaritaville,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville and friend of the late Jimmy Buffett, at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City adds a new lodging and recreation option to the area near Legends Outlets, Children’s Mercy Park, Kansas Speedway, and the future Atlas9 immersive amusement center. Employing 185 workers to manage 228 guest rooms, indoor and outdoor pools, dining venues, an arcade, and large event spaces, the resort-style property opened on Wednesday.

The casual luxury hotel is a new option for those traveling to KCK for the aforementioned attractions, as well as families traveling for youth sports, and locals seeking a staycation or afternoon escape. Kansas and Missouri residents who wish to book a room can take advantage of a 15% discount with a valid ID. Day passes for both pool facilities are available for non-hotel guests at $60 for adults and $20 for children.

Non-hotel guests are also welcome to enjoy the restaurant and lobby bar. Dining options include the LandShark Bar & Grill, offering American fare and live music; the connected LandShark Lobby Bar; the outdoor 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill on the pool deck; and Joe Merchant’s Coffee & Provisions, a grab-and-go market in the lobby.

Custom details such as shark floor tile inlays, a margarita glass chandelier, embroidered robes and slippers in each room, shiplap walls, and the massive flip-flop sculpture in the entry help maintain the beachy and boozy theme at every turn.

Margaritaville Hotel Kansas City is at 1491 N 98th Terrace, Kansas City, KS 66111.
