The Wilders
Our beloved Wilders have officially graduated from local-hero status. With barely two weeks’ notice, the group went all “nationally acclaimed” and entered the no-day-job world of festival favorites across the country — not just in places such as the Greeley, Colorado, Bluegrass Roundup and the Grey Fox Festival in Ancramdale, New York, but also on the big stages at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Merlefest, that mecca of acoustic music named after Doc Watson’s late son. Now working on a CD produced by accordionist Dirk Riley (known for his work on the Cold Mountain soundtrack), the Wilders are having the time of their lives. These shows (the Café Salvador will be full-bore, even if it is in a church) will give us a chance to say howdy before the band jumps back in the Winnebago and heads back out of town.
