Get a good base; you’re going to need it Saturday. The fifth annual Strong Ale Beer Festival takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. in the streets of Westport (outside McCoy’s Public House at 4057 Pennsylvania), and you won’t find a beer among the more than 70 offerings here with an ABV lower than 8 percent.

Tickets cost $40 in advance or $50 at the gate and get you a commemorative glass and unlimited samples of the beers. Oh, and this year’s theme is spaghetti-Western. So put on your best Western attire and clean up in the costume contest.

The lineup lives up to the billing: strong. Among the beers we’re looking forward to tasting:

• 4 Hands Ca$h Mony imperial IPA

• Bell’s 30th Anniversary Ale imperial stout

• Bell’s Uberon bourbon-barrel-aged Oberon

• Cinder Block Black Squirrel

• Deschutes the Dissident Oud Bruin,

• Founders KBS bourbon-barrel-aged stout

• Free State Chili Mac imperial stout

• KC Bier Co. Wunder Pils

• Martin City the Poitier brandy-barrel-aged tripel

• Martin City the Highwayman bourbon-barrel-aged imperial porter

• McCoy’s tripel

• McCoy’s 2012 Ursa Major

• Nebraska Brewing Fathead Barley Wine

• Odell Russian Pirate imperial stout, aged in rum barrels

• Perennial Maman imperial stout, aged in Evan Williams Japanese Blue Label 23-year barrels

• Perennial Savant Blanc Belgian blonde

• Pretty Things Baby Tree quadruple

• Santa Fe Chicken Killer Barley Wine

• Schlafly 2013 Oak Aged Barleywine

• Torn Label Lumber Lung imperial brown ale, aged on charred Missouri white oak

This list isn’t even close to all of the good stuff on tap. Getting through all that won’t be easy, even with quarter pours and four hours to spare. Make sure you Uber or cab it. That’s what we’ll be doing — and then lounging for the rest of the night.
