The Westport Strong Ale Festival, Boulevard Snow & Tell Scotch Ale tapping and more beer events

Get a good base; you’re going to need it Saturday. The fifth annual Strong Ale Beer Festival takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. in the streets of Westport (outside McCoy’s Public House at 4057 Pennsylvania), and you won’t find a beer among the more than 70 offerings here with an ABV lower than 8 percent.

Tickets cost $40 in advance or $50 at the gate and get you a commemorative glass and unlimited samples of the beers. Oh, and this year’s theme is spaghetti-Western. So put on your best Western attire and clean up in the costume contest.

This list isn’t even close to all of the good stuff on tap. Getting through all that won’t be easy, even with quarter pours and four hours to spare. Make sure you Uber or cab it. That’s what we’ll be doing — and then lounging for the rest of the night.
