The United Way is moving to Park Plaza from Quality Hill

The United Way of Greater Kansas City has found its new home for its headquarters. The nonprofit organization is moving either later this year or in early 2013 to Park Plaza (801 West 47th Street), where it will lease.
The organization says it will save money by selling its buildings in Quality Hill and will benefit from being centrally located.
“The move makes good financial sense for United Way,” Jeff Provost, treasurer of United Way’s Board of Trustees, said in a press release. “It allows us to strengthen our balance sheet with the proceeds from the sale of the existing owned facilities. It also eliminates the uncertainty of future unplanned capital and maintenance costs and tangentially it will allow the staff to focus on the primary United Way mission.”
Selling its Quality Hill headquarters could bring in $1.8 million. The Pitch reported that the buildings were put up for sale in May.
“That means more money at work for our community,” Provost added.
