The Ultimate Fight

Cops and firefighters risk their lives, on a regular basis, to protect us. So it’s a mystery why we should get such a thrill seeing the finest specimens among such noble types beat the crap out of one another during the fourth-annual Guns ‘N Hoses Fight Night, an amateur boxing event featuring police and firefighters from counties in both Missouri and Kansas. All the bouts are supervised by USA Boxing — a national governing body for amateur boxing — so they’ll be good, clean fights. And competitors will have received fight training before climbing into the ring. All proceeds benefit the Kansas City Crime Commission’s Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund and amateur youth boxing programs in the metro that combat juvenile delinquency. The fists start flying at 7 p.m. at Memorial Hall (600 North Seventh Street, Kansas City, Kansas). Ticket prices vary. Get them by contacting Barbara Yoksh at 913-888-7766, ext. 844, or through Ticketmaster. See kcgunsnhoses.com for more information.
