The Reporter’s Wife

As managing editor of The New York Times, the remarkable journalist Gerald M. Boyd led the newspaper’s staff to an impressive collection of Pulitzer Prizes for stories that included coverage of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, race relations in the United States and, of course, the attacks of September 11, 2001. Despite this history of excellence, he became collateral damage for the gross professional misconduct of plagiarist douche Jayson Blair. Before dying in 2006 of complications from lung cancer, Boyd penned a memoir, My Times in Black and White. The book’s afterword was written by his wife, Robin Stone, who appears at Kansas City’s Central Library (14 West 10th Street) for a 6:30 p.m. reading and discussion of the book and her husband, following a 6 p.m. reception. Admission is free. For more information, call 816-701-3407.
