The Plastic Constellations

Had Minnesota given birth to punk music, it might have sounded less like the Clash and a whole lot more like the Plastic Constellations, a ballsy group from Minneapolis whose shows have the kinetic energy of a whirling dervish on speed. The Constellations’ progressive sound and semi-epic lyrics about dragons, chain mail and natural disasters make for the perfect postpunk antidote to indie, emo and even postpunk itself. That’s because the band skillfully blends elements of all three (and even a dose of hip-hop) in the same energetic, genre-less stew. It ain’t London, but God bless Minnesota.
