The Mynabirds added to Mumford and Sons show

Hot diggity damn. Next Wednesday is going to be a fine night for shows in Kansas City.
Mumford and Sons‘ show at the Record Bar is already sold out. But for you lucky ticket-holders, the night just got better. The Mynabirds are added to the bill, who are a Saddle Creek Americana get-up that, according to singer and songwriter Laura Burhenn, is meant to sound like “Neil Young doing Motown.” Burhenn’s Dusty-Springfield-like take on blue-eyed soul and her band’s sepia-tinged country roots isn’t far off. It fits somewhere between lo-fi Jenny Lewis and twangy Chan Marshall, and the band will add some spit-shine to a bill that’s already shaping up to be a solid show.
(For those of you that missed out on Mumford and Sons, wander over to the Beaumont and find sprawling psych-pop troupe Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes at with opener Dawes, who sound a bit like a harmony-soaked, heart-wrenching version of the Band. It’s bound to be just as good.)
