The Jumpoff
Since JD Flow relocated to Seattle, DJs Mythik and Dublow 7 (pictured) have taken over the Wednesday night weekly at the Peanut downtown known as The Jumpoff. The two have taken a night that was once was a mere shadow of the popular Sunday night Peanut offering, Hip-Hop and Hot Wings, and developed their own supreme clientele. Dublow 7 describes The Jumpoff as “a forum for creativity, a showcase for local and national talent and a place to build with people.” He and Mythik import a variety of acts, including rappers and DJs, to present a legit hip-hop show each Wednesday. (Most notably, they recently welcomed Big Jus of Company Flow.) The strong suit of both Dublow and Mythik is their ability to scratch, and lately, the two have begun incorporating beat machines and live remixes into their performances. Originally from St. Joseph, Dublow and Mythik moved to Kansas City after outgrowing their surroundings. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen here.
