THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE LADLE

If green is the new black and black is the new president, is there any reason why snarky can’t be the new sexy? That question would yield a resounding “hell, no!” if posed to the devoted unisex membership of a MySpace group called “I’d Do Dirty Dirty Things to Joel McHale” — proof to us all that “sexy” is in the eye of a diverse (and deviant) array of beholders. Basic cable notwithstanding, a lot of eyes are on McHale as he hosts The Soup, E!’s weekly compendium of televised train wrecks, where he’s the latest barb-slinging successor to a post first manned in 1991 by future Academy Award nominee Greg Kinnear. Currently on the Midwest leg of his “Thank You for the Pool” tour, McHale brings his stand-up act to the Uptown Theater (3700 Broadway) tonight at 7:30. Tickets cost $32.50 and are available through Ticketmaster or uptowntheater.com.
