The Future is Here and There
Tomorrow is today. Information is instant, entertainment comes packaged on demand, and humans live in outer space. Of course, even in the face of progress, humankind retains its less-than-noble barbarism. Exploring this dichotomy, the Lawrence Corporation for the Advancement of the Visual Arts presents Signs of the New Apocalypse or Glimmers of a DIY Utopia? at the Percolator in downtown Lawrence (411 East Ninth Street). Curated by Dave Loewenstein and Heidi Zeller, the exhibit asks artists to judge whether the world has become a better place with technological and social change. Works on display span visual art, music, performance and even food. The free, all-ages exhibition opens at 7 p.m. and continues Sundays through January 11.
