The Flying Saucer celebrates women in the beer industry, starting tonight with Founders All Day BliS Blast

Throughout this month, the Flying Saucer will celebrate women in craft beer with a series of events. It all starts tonight at 7 with a tapping of Founders All Day BliS Blast at the restaurant (101 E. 13th St.). Founders rep Ashley Krull will be in attendance to talk about the beer, which you can only get in Kansas City at the Saucer.

“It’s their All Day IPA that was aged in KBS barrels after another company had aged a hot sauce in them,” says Flying Saucer general manager Kellen Duryea. “I’d call that a fairly unique beer.”

Duryea says the Women in Craft Beer series is the beer bar’s way of saluting the excellent work being done.

“There are women excelling in every aspect of the industry,” he says, “from our most important feature, our sales team, our waitstaff, to our sales reps from distributors to our sales reps from breweries and our brewery representatives to brewmasters to senior brewers to lab technicians and quality control people to brewery owners.

“It’s fun for an industry that has been for the most part pretty male-dominated in terms of the customer base as well as the employees and major players in the industry to highlight the different aspects of it,” he adds. “To show the variety of people who are involved in it.”
