The East Bottoms Bazaar is happening tonight

“Part pop-up shop, part street festival,” is how Urban Provisions owner Savannah Northcraft described Third Fridays in the East Bottoms in our recent feature on that nook of the city. The event has been a bit on-and-off for the last year, but it returns this evening. What all is going on? If you will just hold on a second, I am about to tell you!

Vans, for one! A gathering of vintage vans — courtesy of Blue Collar Antiques, Cable and Company, Thou Mayest, Easy Tiger and Velo Wagon Bike Repair — will be parked on the block, selling various wares.

Also, Sweet Caroline’s Ice Box will be selling “soft baked cinnamon sugar cookies + vanilla bean ice cream + rolled in brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornflakes,” according to its Facebook page. Look at this thing! I can’t even think about other things besides this treat until I eat it:

Pigwich will be open late, serving Japanese street food by guest chef Joe West of Kusshi. There will also be lawn games, live graffiti art from Dom Murillo and Zach Wilson of the Lovely Crew, and a pop-up record shop from Vinyl Underground.

The party starts at 6 p.m. and continues until 9 p.m. As it happens, 9 p.m. is when the last of this summer’s Pitch- and Kansas City Public Library-sponsored rooftop movie screenings begins at the downtown Central Library. Tonight is Desperately Seeking Susan. It’s on your way home; why not?
