The Crossroads Music Fest, crammed with dozens of bands in eight venues, is Saturday, September 6

The Crossroads Music Fest is quite a local success story, thanks to the unrelenting efforts of the maniacally busy Bill Sundahl. Since 2005, Sundahl has been organizer, promoter, marketer, and general do-everythinger for the festival, which will dominate the Crossroads Saturday, September 6. And wow, are there a lot of great bands. (Hello, Bacon Shoe! Where you been?)

The festival features not only a boatload of the area’s best music but also a legal “bootcamp” for musicians, hosted by Kansas City Volunteer Lawyers & Accountants for the Arts, from noon to 5 p.m. at Czar. The bootcamp aims to help musicians with a variety of issues, including copyright, licensing and band agreements. Registration for the $10 bootcamp (which seems to be something worth every penny) is open here.

Tickets for the whole festival are on sale now for $15, or $20 on the day of the fest. Advance tickets are available for purchase at Vinyl Renaissance, Grinders and the Bottleneck in Lawrence, or online here
