The Concert for Global Peace, featuring Muza, the UMKC Conservatory, and Trio Aztlan

It was a year ago this month that the Chilean mine collapsed, trapping 33 miners half a mile underground for more than two months. A primary contributor to their rescue was Layne Christensen Company, a locally based drilling company. It’s being presented with a Citizen Diplomacy Award for its work in the rescue this Saturday, August 27, at the Rose Theatre at Rockhurst High School. Why am I writing about this on the music blog? Because there’ll be some fancy music at the event.
