The Campground opens, Strawberry Swing moves its holiday market to Union Station, Rye Plaza turns one, and more: KC’s food and drink events for November 26 – December 2

Monday, November 26

Many years in the making, the Campground (1531 Gennessee Streeet) opens for its first full week today in the space formerly occupied by the West Bottoms. The American West-themed bar and restaurant specializes in craft cocktails and Belgian beers; it will also be serving a light lunch menu with small plates available in the evenings. The Campground will be open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.

Tuesday, November 27

Participate in ‘Giving Tuesday’ today at BLVD Tours & Rec Center (2534 Madison Avenue). Boulevard will donate $1 from all pours sold today between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. to KC Pet Project, the city’s no-kill animal shelter. There will also be adoptable pets on hand between 5 and 7 p.m. KC Pet Project’s goal this year is to raise $30,000 to help treat puppies with parvo and kittens and kates panleukemia. Rye Plaza (4646 J. C. Nichols Parkway) is celebrating one year in business today. Visit the restaurant any time today between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. for half-price fried chicken and bubbles. This is our kind of party.

Get in Tuesday night for a Martin City Brewing Company beer dinner at HopCat (401 Westport Road). Five beers are paired with four courses for the meal, which begins at 6:30 p.m. On the menu: butternut squash soup with a fontina crostini (paired with Shunned House, a foeder-aged American IPA with brett), and hot and spicy turkey legs (Radical Candor, an American double IPA). Fans of Firestone Walker should head to Fringe Beerworks (224 SE Douglas Street) today starting at 6 p.m. for a total tap takeover. Beers on tap include Velvet Merkin
, Sucaba, Helldorado, Krieky Bones, Luponic #009 and Easy Jack. 

Saturday, December 1

Plant-based caterer and food service company Kind Food is popping up today at Fetch (1101 Mulberry Street). Choose from the Coco-BLT, with house-made coconut “bacon,” fresh tomato, crispy romaine, and an avocado cream, or the Kind Curry
, with c
hickpeas, cauliflower, sweet potato and bell pepper in a coconut curry sauce on seasoned quinoa. Get there between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Get to Vox Vineyards (19310 Northwest Farley Hampton Road) today from 2 – 4 p.m. for a “Grand Tasting,” a vertica ltasting designed around a special hand-picked vintage, which today is Special Club Champagne. Today’s selection also includes small plates.
