The British Are Coming

With representation from every corner of the United Kingdom, Central Standard Theatre (in partnership with Guy Masterson Theatre Tours International and the Blackout Theatre Company)presents British Invasion Week at Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre. Guy Masterson, a Scot, brings two much-lauded programs of works by the Welsh Dylan Thomas: Under Milk Wood and a very Christmasy evening at Fern Hill (made up of the short stories “Visit to Grandpa’s,” “Holiday Memory” and “A Child’s Christmas in Wales,” plus Thomas’ poems “Fern Hill” and “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night”). Rebecca Vaughan performs Austen’s Women — 13 of her heroines, a pageant of 19th-century English womanhood. And Blackout Theatre Company performs Harold Pinter’s surreal, suspenseful The Dumb Waiter, in which two hit men await their next assignment. The British invasion continues at Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre (3614 Main) through December 12. Tickets cost $20-$30 at metkc.org or 816-569-3226.
