The BoDeans

The BoDeans
Not many bands can pull off the double live album, an odd bell-bottom remnant invented to let hallucinating graphic artists lavish their labors on the spread of a gatefold LP sleeve. But the BoDeans — beer- and battle-scarred veterans of the last dozen commercial roots insurgencies and subsequent heartbreaking beatbacks — did just that with last year’s Homebrewed: Live From the Pabst. Not only that, but with the exception of a dandy version of their hit “If It Makes You,” they did it on the strength of their newest material. Homebrewed proves that vulnerable, hard-rocking roots anthems can still get the right crowd singing its guts out.
