The 39th Street Market is now open

  • Open for biz.

Good news for residents of the West 39th Street neighborhood: There’s a new liquor store/grocery store/deli now open on the ground floor of the new apartment buildings at 39th Street and State Line, across from Jazz. The 39th Street Market opened quietly last week, not long after its owners, Price Brothers Realty, closed their World of Spirits liquor store a block away.

The new place is far nicer. In addition to an extensive alcohol selection, 39th Street Market offers some fancy cheeses, a little bit of produce, Prairie Fire Coffee and a small frozen section. The Market Cafe serves breakfast fare (lox and bagel; eggs on croissants), plus sandwiches like a smoked salmon on nine-grain bun and a corned beef brisket on toasted rye.

And it’s open late:

Monday-Saturday: 7 a.m. – 1:30 a.m.

Sunday 9 a.m. – midnight

(The Market Cafe is open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.)
