Texas A&M is still in the Big 12 … for now

The SEC didn’t offer Texas A&M an invitation to join on Sunday. However, the invitation is only delayed. According to Texas’ Rivals site Orangebloods.com, the Aggies will be announced as the newest members of the SEC in about three weeks’ time.
“Texas A&M wants the SEC, and the SEC wants Texas A&M,” the source told Orangebloods.
Just not right at this moment. The SEC’s presidents and chancellors committee met and “reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment.” Though “no action was taken with respect to any institution including Texas A&M,” the SEC board left the door open to future expansion.
Arkansas chancellor Dave Gearhart confirmed to ESPN that A&M reached out to the SEC.
