Tech N9ne goes number one on the indie album chart, draws Lil Wayne’s attention

For the third time in a row, Tech N9ne has the number one independent album in the country. (Tech N9ne Collabos: The Gates Mixed Plate ranks as the following on Billboard: #1 Indie Album, #4 Rap Album, #13 on Billboard’s Top 200.) The nation’s taking notice of the local legend — and so is Lil Wayne, who called into New York’s Hot 97 station this weekend from Rikers Island, where he’s serving an 8 month prison sentence. When asked who Weezy was looking forward to collaborating with upon his release, the rapper said: “I’ve been saying to myself that I really want to do a song with either Andre 3000 or Tech N9ne.”
