Tallgrass hits the Half-Pipe, Martin City Brewing Co. comes to Waldo, Kansas Craft Beer Week begins and more beer events
Thursday, April 14
Tallgrass launches Half-Pipe Tart Pale Ale, the Manhattan brewery’s new summer seasonal, with a party at Up-Down (101 Southwest Boulevard) from 5 to 7 p.m. You’ll have the chance to meet brewery owner Jeff Gill, too.
Friday, April 15
Get some tax-day relief with a tasting of Odell beers from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Rimann Liquors (15117 West 87th Street Parkway, Lenexa).
The third annual Blue Ribbon Burgers and Brews tasting benefit for the Child Abuse Prevention Association takes place at Hendricks Lexus (6935 West Frontage Road, Merriam) from 7 to 10 p.m. Drink beers from Tallgrass, Odell, Deschutes, KC Bier Co., New Belgium and Oskar Blues. Tickets cost $60 to $100.
Monday, April 18
Martin City Brewing Co. is the brewery of the month at Waldo Pizza (7433 Broadway). The pizza joint throws a tap takeover tonight at 5 with Mr. Vacation barleywine, Hardway IPA, Belgian Abbey, Belgian Blond and Coffee Stout. Also, look for specials on 22-ounce bottles of Big Boy Imperial Stout and the 750 ml Apposite Belgian pale ale.
Kansas Craft Beer Week is here through April 24.
Tuesday, April 19
Tallgrass will be part of the Kansas Craft Beer Week tap takeover at Barley’s Brewhaus (16649 Midland Dr., Shawnee) starting at 4:30 p.m. Tallgrass is bringing two exclusive beers: Blackberry Pub Ale and Tropical Elbow Drop.
Wednesday, April 20
The next beer dinner at Happy Gillis (549 Gillis Street) is with Odell Brewing Co. Chef Josh Eans is promising special beers that haven’t been in the KC market yet. A seat at the table costs $65 (plus tax and gratuity).
Border Brewing Co. is hooking up with Shatto for a Chocolate Milk Stout Float Night at the brewery (406 East 18th Street) from 4 to 9 p.m. Get a float for $6.
Red Crow Brewing Co. (20561 South Lone Elm Road, Spring Hill) is doing brewery tours at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. as part of Kansas Craft Beer Week. Boo Yah Asian Fusion food truck will be there from 5 to 9 p.m.
Grain to Glass (1611 Swift Avenue, North Kansas City) holds a beer-flavor ID class from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15.
