Taj Mahal trio

Taj Mahal, that walking encyclopedia of American music, is one of the few acoustic-blues-folk-Caribbean-etc. performers capable of filling up — with both humans and sound — the cavernous vault that is the Beaumont Club. As if mastering every variety of music on the continents of North and South America weren’t enough, Mahal’s recent albums for children show he’s one of the few bluesmen loved by kids and adults. (Incidentally, his guest appearance on PBS’ Arthur kicked ass.) As always, Mahal has been busy exploring new realms, including contributing two tracks to Creole Bred, a tribute to Louisiana music. The man is touring with a trio this time around, and the stars are lined up for a show filled with classics.
