Suspicious package at federal courthouse; note says it will explode (updated)

Update: There wasn’t a bomb inside the suspicious cooler at the federal courthouse. The investigation is being turned over to the FBI.

The federal courthouse at 9th and Locust has been evacuated after a suspicious package was discovered outside the building. A note attached to the package said the package’s contents would explode.

Police were called to the scene at 8:44 a.m. to inspect a package, described as a soft side cooler, next to a garage door on the east side of the building.

KCPD Bomb and Arson detectives are on the scene, and the bomb robot will evaluate the package.
