It wasn’t very long ago that recreational marijuana was legalized in Missouri in December of 2022. However, dispensaries could not sell recreationally until Feb. 3, 2023.

With Super Bowl LVII taking place just over a week later, the marijuana industry in Kansas City was not given enough time to capitalize on it. However, businesses like Franklin’s are excited to offer a product perfect for Chief’s fans and Super Bowl celebrations this year, Kush Kingdom.

Franklin’s (formerly Franklin’s Stash House) is a manufacturing facility located in the heart of Kansas City. They have been in business since October 2020, just a couple of years after the medical legalization of marijuana in Missouri. As a manufacturer, they serve a similar role to that of Boulevard Brewing Company. They work with local grower, Vivid Cannabis, located in Grandview. Franklin’s products can be found in nearly 20 dispensaries across the state and are widely regarded as Missouri’s “blunt masters.”

Franklin’s introduced Kush Kingdom to the public after receiving a clever name suggestion from a customer. It’s a unique pre-roll blend that is made up of four different strains. Because of this, it packs a bit more punch than a traditional pre-roll. It can be purchased as a single blunt or a party pack of five. In addition to their pre-rolls, Franklin’s offers a “Kush Kingdom” hoodie that can be found on their website.

Their expertise and love for what they do does not fall short of their owner and CEO, Mike Wilson.

“It’s very nerdy, but we love the products we create, and we smoke them all,” Wilson says. “We could talk about how much we enjoy weed all day long. It’s kind of just part of our culture.”

According to Wilson, Kansas City is the number one market in the state for recreational marijuana sales. Paired with a vibrant city and an incredible football team, Franklin’s should have a long future in Kansas City.

“That’s why you’re seeing things like Kush Kingdom and Berries and Cherries pop up,” he says. “This is just an organic representation of culture that’s out there. We’re trying, like many others, to listen and provide. Kansas City will tell you what they like and don’t like, and I love that.”

Wilson expects to see an increase in sales this week while people prepare for their Super Bowl celebrations. He has already seen an increased demand from dispensaries this week in preparation for weekend sales.

Win or lose, Wilson encourages Chiefs players to stop by their nearest dispensary and celebrate with Kush Kingdom.

Franklin’s is located in several dispensaries around the metro, including Greenlight Dispensary, ReLeaf Resources Dispensary, and From the Earth.
