Super Animals

The animals performing this weekend during the Kansas City Pet Expo at the American Royal Center (1701 American Royal Court) would give your dog or cat an inferiority complex. It’s a good thing you’re not allowed to take them. Browse vendors for cool pet gear, then look in on the stage shows to see dogs doing all the tricks that your old Scooby never quite figured out or had no interest in (plus a few you’ve never heard of). On the schedule: championship dock dog diving, canine agility, acro-cats (you read that right), and a dog fashion show. At the end of all that, if you decide it’s time for a new pet (as company for the old one, not a replacement), check in with the rescue and shelter organizations offering on-site adoptions. The Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8.50 for adults and $6 for children ages 6-12.
