Summer Kamp Fest is at Vandals this weekend

For those who were fans of Vandals’ Center of the City Fest (read our coverage here), there’s a chance to see many of those bands – and more of the same ilk – without freezing your ass off outside. For those who have collegiate back-to-school demands, Vandals’ Summer Kamp is a fine last chance to rage with some of the finest punk and rock-and-roll acts the region has to offer on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The organizers of this three-day bonanza have curated more than 24 hours of bands, and they’re a veritable smorgasbord of loud.

In addition to the usual local suspects such as All Blood, Red Kate, the Bad Ideas, Black on Black, and Stiff Middle Fingers (among about a dozen others), Summer Kamp offers a lot more touring acts than Center of the City did, all of whom seem to sport various pun-related names — Slayerkitty, Molotov Latte and the act that everyone seems most hyped on: Nashville trio Thelma and the Sleaze. The band plays dirty, blues-influenced rock and roll that’s almost sludgy enough to be first cousin to stoner rock. They play Vandals at 10 p.m. Friday, and the rest of the lineup can be found here.
