Started as a means to continue the careers of players who had been rejected by Major League Baseball, the Northern League was founded in 1993. Last year was the women’s tackle-football team’s breakout season. The Tribe finished 2009 with a 7-1 record and brought home the Independent Women’s Football League Tier I World Championship. The team plays its last home game of the season against the Chicago Force at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Center High School (8701 Holmes).
