If its pop-punk predecessors offer any indication, Sum 41 has a few years left to live the good life. With irresistible hooks and a mean rhythm section that belies its nice-guy Canadian ‘tude, Sum 41 is arguably the most engaging of the radio-friendly punk acts that arrived around the turn of the century. Success, age and other factors notwithstanding, the quartet has lost none of the adolescent angst or sophomoric humor that permeated last year’s Does This Look Infected? and the multiplatinum All Killer No Filler. Sum 41 delivers exponentially larger portions of these virtues in person, which means it’s worth the bucks to see these guys before they retire, with an Econoline full of cash, to the gutters from which they sprang.
