Subdudes

As a band formed with the same spontaneous spirit of a late-night New Orleans jam session — which isn’t too far from how its members actually came together — the Subdudes continue to be one of the more engaging acts to have emerged from the Crescent City over the past fifteen years. Back together and touring after hanging it up in 1996, original members Tommy Malone, John Magnie, and Steve Amedée have enlisted the help of longtime friends Tim Cook and Jimmy Messa to round out their ranks. Founded on a sultry stew of blues, rock, R&B and zydeco, the Subdudes’ music is both uptown and down-home, slyly swinging one minute and driving with a fat-back beat the next.
