Stupid criminal alert: Three men arrested for trying to steal battery from highway sign

It’s early but we have three front-runners for stupid criminals of the day. Three men waited until the busiest time of the day to try and steal a battery from a highway sign on Interstate 435 near Stadium Drive.

No, no one will notice three guys dressed like the Columbine shooters trying to dismantle an electronic sign around 7 a.m. KMBC Channel 9’s spy-in-the-sky Johnny Rowlands hovered over the guys, as they sat handcuffed on the side of the interstate while Kris Ketz and Donna Pitman in-studio looked puzzled as to why someone would steal a battery from a roadside sign.
