Street Show

With its cheap drinking holes and bohemian spirit, Westport is always peppered with artists. They might be kicking back or helping you kick back. (How many inked-up servers do you know who aren’t slinging drinks and sandwiches to support their creative endeavors?) All this weekend in Westport, about 150 visual artists have been at work, putting themselves and their paintings, sculpture, pottery and textile creations on display in the streets. A 30-year-old tradition, Art Westport is a juried art fair that accepts applications only from locals — artists must live within a 40-mile radius of Kansas City. The three-day show and sale opened from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday. Exhibition resumed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and wraps up today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 913-533-2656 or see artwestport.net.
