Stealing Time: Johnny Rowlands helicopter stalks “stolen” white truck
I swear Johnny Rowlands was helicopter stalking a white truck this morning. In the 1994 flashback (see Simpson, O.J.), Rowlands in NewsChopper 9 hovered above the truck as it made “unusual turns,” and Rowlands wondered whether he should call the cops. Let’s see, Johnny. You think the truck is stolen. You’re in a helicopter chasing it. I don’t know. Seriously, WTF? Guess Rowlands is no super sleuth. All I remember is him saying, “Thought we had a scoop,” and KMBC’s morning anchors cracking on him for playing Sherlock Holmes. I swear this happened.
Let’s get this out of the way before some Star sports reporter starts running with rumors that the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats could be the “Kansas City Bobcats.” The Bobcats are not — NOT — moving to KC. We got us some new leaders in the Kansas statehouse. Kansas Republicans booted Melvin Neufeld from Speaker of the House in favor of Mike O’Neal. The Kansas Jackass isn’t surprised. Neither am I. It’s a conservative-for-conservative trade. Lawrence Rep. Paul Davis is the new House minority leader. Good choice. The rest of the races remained pretty static, including Senate Minority Leader Anthony Hensley fending off WyCo’s Chris Steineger, who apparently couldn’t find anyone to second his nomination. It’s gonna be lonely in the nine-member Democratic caucus for Steineger.
