Stage Lit

Being of the opinion that birthdays can never be celebrated too fully, we’re pleased to see that the Coterie Theatre (2450 Grand) discovered the many quaint and curious volumes of Edgar Allan Poe in time for his 200th birthday. The Tell-Tale Electric Poe, an adaptation of the stories “William Wilson,” “The Pit and the Pendulum” and “The Tell-Tale Heart” as well as the poems “Alone,” “The Bells” and “The Raven,” opens the Coterie’s Preteen/Young Adults Series. Conceived and adapted for the stage by Jeff Church and performed by actor Bruce Roach and musician Rex Hobart, Electric Poe runs through October 9, with free question-and-answer sessions after the 2 p.m. performances today and Sunday. We plan to ask plenty of questions about this Lenore we keep hearing so much about. For tickets, see coterietheatre.org or call 816-474-6552.

Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 15. Continues through Oct. 9, 2009
