Stage Hot

The great male opera stars of the past, from Caruso to Pavarotti, have had rich, seductive voices. But their burly physiques? Definitely not so sexy. The new generation of international male opera stars, including Juan Diego Flórez and Salvatore Licitra, are as easy on the eyes as on the ears. When the Lyric Opera opens its production of Tosca tonight at the Lyric Theatre (1029 Central), broad-shouldered, cleft-chinned Greer Grimsley will play the smiling sadist Scarpia. Grimsley, like several other brawny beefcake baritones slated to sing in the upcoming Lyric Opera season, is featured on a Web site brimming with baritone hunks: barihunks.blogspot.com. See him singing in all his sexy glory through September 19. For ticket information, call 816-471-7344 or see kcopera.org.
