Spring Green

Kermit the Frog taught a generation of youngsters that “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” but KC’s City Market is determined to prove to residents of all ages that going green is easier than they might think. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the City Market (20 East Fifth Street) hosts Get Your Green On, which has nothing to do with the green, leafy vegetables sold by its farmers-market vendors and everything to do with information on carbon-footprint reduction, rain-garden products, recycling and sustainability efforts. Surplus Exchange and staff from the Public Works Department will be on hand at Third Street and Walnut for a five-hour drop-off (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) of electronic devices for recycling. Some fees will apply for larger devices (TVs, computer monitors), but you can drop off cell phones, keyboards, laptops, personal printers and other smaller devices for free. Call 816-842-1271 for more information.
