The posts had nearly as many saves as the New England Revolution’s Matt Reis on Saturday night. Sporting KC (2-0-0) peppered the opposing goalkeeper with 24 shots on their way to a 3-0 win in the home opener — a game that could have been even more one-sided if not for a few unlucky bounces and the home team’s decision to stop pressing the attack with 30 minutes to go.

Before a raucous crowd decked out in green and blue, everybody from preteens with fake green mustaches to light-blue Darth Vader, Sporting KC showed why they are the favorite to win the Eastern Conference this year.
